How the personnel desk reviews work

Requests are form-based, validated, paid, then reviewed by an administrator. Confirmations, receipts, and status changes go to the email on the filing. Desk hours are Monday–Friday, 0800–1700 Eastern unless a notice says otherwise.

Review order

  • Payment proof is checked against the method you selected.
  • The unique code is matched to the soldier record.
  • Identity documents are checked for readability and consistency.
  • The administrator records a decision. You are emailed. Tracking uses that email plus the reference.

Hours and after-hours

Tickets and filings submitted after 1700 Eastern wait in queue. Do not send a second payment because you have not seen an email yet — check spam, then Contact with the reference.

What “processing” means

Processing means staff have the packet. It is not a command approval and not a finance deposit. If something is missing, the email will say what to send.

Questions on this topic

What is Military Unit Portal and what can I do here?

Military Unit Portal is a personnel support desk for U.S. service members and authorized family. From one account session you can file paid military leave (fifteen categories), retirement, redeployment, and service-dog adoption; order care packs and call cards; attach a soldier unique code so the request is tied to the correct record; and track status with the reference emailed after you submit. Administrators review identity, payment proof, and the packet before a status change is mailed. About the portal

What does a unique code look like, and why does the form accept several formats?

Administrators issue a short alphanumeric unique code for each soldier record. The lookup accepts the code with or without a hyphen and is not case-sensitive, so a code stored as AB-1234 can be entered as AB1234 or ab-1234. If lookup still fails, the code is wrong or the record is not active — contact the desk with the soldier’s full name rather than guessing codes.

I forgot the soldier password. Can family reset it?

No. Family and guests never receive the soldier password and cannot reset it. Only the soldier (or the administrator who issued the record) can restore access. Open Contact or Support, identify the unique code, and request a password reset through the desk. Do not email the password in the clear on social media. Contact the desk

Where are rank, unit, awards, current team, and last leave shown?

Those fields live on the personnel file after soldier sign-in. An administrator posts decorations, current team, last team, and completed leave history. You cannot edit them yourself. Last leave on the profile is historical; it is not the same as submitting a new paid leave request, which creates a new reference, fee, and review queue.

Which photo ID is accepted, and when is the back of the card required?

Accepted types include passport, national identity card, residence permit, driver license, U.S. state ID, U.S. military ID / CAC, and consular ID. Passports generally need only the data page (no reverse). Cards with a back — licenses, military ID, national ID — require a clear photo of both sides. Face photos must show the applicant unobstructed; identity files are held for administrator review and are not published on the public site. On a leave filing only, a filer who truly has no government photo ID may still proceed: upload a face photo, choose “I do not have a government photo ID,” give a reason, and sign the declaration. The packet is reserved; the desk may still request an ID before approval. Retirement, redeployment, adoption, shop, and flight filings still require a photo ID.
